Community, Culture and Connection
Join PKKP for NAIDOC Week 2026

The PKKP Aboriginal Corporation is proud to invite members, families and the wider community to join us for our annual NAIDOC Week Community Event on Thursday 9 July 2026 at 7 Hedland Place, Karratha, from 10am to 2pm.

Now firmly established as one of the highlights of the local NAIDOC Week calendar, the event has continued to grow year after year, bringing together PKKP members, community organisations, local businesses and residents to celebrate Aboriginal culture, connection and community.

This year’s event aligns with the national NAIDOC Week theme, “50 Years of Deadly”, which marks five decades of celebrating the voices, achievements, strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. The milestone recognises the Elders, leaders, artists, organisers and communities who have shaped the NAIDOC movement and continue to inspire future generations.

Visitors can look forward to a vibrant day of entertainment, culture and family-friendly activities, including:

  • Special guest appearance by former West Coast Eagles star Nic Naitanui
  • Guest speakers
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Cultural workshops and demonstrations
  • Traditional foods and cooking demonstrations
  • Community vendors and market stalls
  • Food trucks
  • Face painting and children’s activities
  • Lucky door and raffle prizes
  • Elders’ Tent
  • Community vaccine clinic
  • And much more

PKKP staff are incredibly proud of how the event has evolved into a celebration that brings the whole community together. What began as a member-focused gathering has grown into a significant community event, supported by local businesses, community groups and organisations that share a commitment to celebrating culture and fostering connection.

“The growth of this event reflects the strength of our community and the importance of creating spaces where culture can be shared, celebrated and experienced by everyone,” said Julie Almeras, acting General Manager Community Outcomes.
