On September 2, 2025, the PKKP Aboriginal corporation held a 10 Year Celebration of Native Title Determination. The event itself ran for 4 days with Monday the 1st and Tuesday the 2nd being the biggest days of celebration.

An event to remember

Members, members family, PKKP Aboriginal Corporation staff, suppliers and VIP Guests, came to Nanutarra Homestead from all over the country to celebrate this milestone. After most arrived on Sunday for a quiet day of checking in, everyone was in for a big day of fun and reflection on Monday which included Member Tree planting, Tours of the Homestead, Damper, Roo, Roo Tail and Emu cooking, Weaving, Emu egg carving, Language learning and generally catching up with family and friends. After dinner, there was a big surprise for all attendees as they watched a magnificent Drone show in the northern sky and then this was followed by music from the amazing Family Shoveler Band. It was a day to remember.

On Tuesday, everyone made their way to the House Creek Rest Area, the location Native Title was recongised 10 years ago to the day, for another ceremony and the unveiling of a special permanent sign installed at the rest area. More than 200 hundred people gathered and listened to some special guests reflect on the journey of the PKKP people from way back around the year 2000 when it all began. Somer members and Traditional Owners also had the opportunity to share and record their stories and yarns of the last 10 years and beyond.
