Become a PKKP Member

Eligibility

PKKP Aboriginal Corporation welcomes applications for new members.

In order to apply you must meet the following eligibility criteria;

  • be 18 years old;
  • be a member of the PKKP people (either a Puutu Kunti Kurrama or Pinikura Person);
  • have completed a PKKP People Community Ratification Deed that has been witnessed by a current PKKPAC Member;
  • have completed a PKKP Membership Application Form.

PKKP Aboriginal Corporation membership eligibility is set out within the PKKPAC Rulebook and Membership Policy.

Entitlements

Eligible Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura Traditional Owners may be entitled to financial benefits as registered members of the PKKPAC RNTBC. PKKPAC encourages all applicants to apply to the PKKP Trust as part of the membership application process. To apply, please see attached the PKKPAC Beneficiary Trust Application form.

Membership applications without the Beneficiary Trust Application forms attached will still be processed in accordance with Corporation Policy. However, approved members cannot receive any financial entitlements until the Beneficiary Trust application is completed.

Member Rights and Responsibilities

As a member, your rights and responsibilities include:

Rights
    • To attend, speak and vote at meetings of the Corporation;
    • To be elected or appointed as a Board of Director of the PKKP Aboriginal Corporation and PKKP Enterprise Ltd.;
    • To inspect registers.
Responsibilities
    • To comply with the Rule Book;
    • To notify the Corporation of any change of contact details in 28 days;
    • To comply with the Code of Conduct;
    • To treat other members with respect and dignity;
    • To not behave in a way that significantly interferes with the operation of the Corporation and Corporation meetings.

All approved members are required to abide by the Code of Conduct Policy. The Code of Conduct Policy outlines PKKP’s expectation of members’ behaviours and personal conduct during interactions with the Corporation, its staff and stakeholders. A copy of the Code of Conduct policy can be here

Our Application Reviewing Process

Once an application is sent to PKKP for Membership, the application is reviewed by the respective Land Committee, either Puutu Kunti Kurruma or Pinikura. The committee considers the application and advises the applicant of the decision. There are several Land Committees held throughout the year. How to apply

To apply to become a PKKP Member, please complete the forms on the right and return it to PKKP Aboriginal Corporation with the required copies of your identification. Applications can be sent to membership@www.pkkp.org.au.
